Is My Problem Something You Treat?
PTs are the primary providers for any orthopedic pain or injury. We treat any body part and any problems with joints, muscles, or nerves that affect function of those in any age group from kids to older adults. PT has shown to be an effective treatment for problems affecting human strength, endurance, power, mobility, balance, posture, motor control, neurological integrity, aerobic endurance, proprioception, and conditions involving pain and/or inflammation.
Some additional specialty areas that we diagnose and treat include:
Performing Artists’ Injuries
TMJ (Jaw Problems)
Postural Issues & Scoliosis
Sports Hernia (post-op or non-surgical & preventative focus)
Treatments that PTs perform:
Strengthening & Conditioning Exercise
Endurance & Stabilization Training
Postural Strengthening & Reeducation
Gait & Running Assessment & Training
Some manual techniques include massage, trigger point and ART-style release, instrument assisted soft tissue massage, and joint mobilizations including thrust mobilization (known as manipulation) as needed.
While there are many common physical problems among individuals, each person’s body presents differently and often has additional contributing factors. A physical therapist’s evaluation of YOUR body and YOUR specific symptoms is key. The sooner you get a proper diagnosis, the sooner you can start proper treatment!
