Hip & Knee Pain in Pittsburgh
Fix Hip & Knee Pain Fast in Pittsburgh
Are simple movements like walking or climbing stairs becoming painful? Does hip stiffness keep you up at night? Joint pain doesn’t just slow you down—it can lead to permanent damage if left untreated.
At Pittsburgh Performance Physical Therapy in Pittsburgh, we do more than relieve symptoms. Our specialists identify the root cause of your pain and provide targeted treatment so you can regain mobility, eliminate discomfort, and prevent long-term joint deterioration.
Why Your Hips & Knees Hurt
Your hip and knee joints absorb constant impact. Without proper strength and balance, they wear down quickly. Common causes of pain include:
Joint Imbalances
- Muscle weakness and tightness throw off alignment, overloading the joints.
- Even a small difference in leg length increases stress on your knees and pelvis.
Repetitive Stress & Overuse
- Running, jumping, and heavy lifting wear down protective tissues.
- Without proper recovery, strain builds up, leading to chronic pain.
Arthritis & Cartilage Loss
- Years of movement wear away joint cushioning, causing stiffness and pain.
- Bone spurs and ligament changes further restrict motion.
At Pittsburgh Performance Physical Therapy in Pittsburgh, we conduct in-depth evaluations to pinpoint the exact cause of your pain, ensuring precise and effective treatment.

This approach eliminates pain at the source, prevents re-injury, and keeps you moving with confidence.
Three months ago I hobbled in to PPPT with the worst back pain and sciatica I’ve ever had. Now that I’m down to my last few sessions with Dr. Hudson, I’m in possibly the best shape of my life. It was obvious from our first session that Dr. Hudson is very good at what he does. He’s incredibly knowledgeable, communicates clearly, and listens carefully. Under his guidance we systematically treated all of my hip, leg, and lower back issues, and for the first time in my life I have an exercise and stretch regiment that really works for me. I’ve been to several other therapists, but Ricky is hands down the best! Kudos to Dr. Wheeler and Dr. Hudson for running such a great practice.
Dr. Elisabeth Wheeler is amazing. I broke my hip five years ago and saw her at another facility. I was impressed with her professionalism, enthusiasm and skill. I was happy to find Dr. Wheeler again at her own practice, where she was once again knowledgeable, helpful and kind. She truly cares about her patients.
The space is very clean with attractive décor. Also want to give a shout-out to Jason, who is also great.
I highly recommend Pittsburgh Performance Physical Therapy!!!
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why do hip and knee pain often happen together?
Your hip and knee share muscle and nerve connections. If one is weak or stiff, the other compensates—leading to stress and pain.
2. Why does hip pain radiate down my leg?
The sciatic nerve runs from the lower spine through the hip and down the leg. Joint dysfunction or tight muscles can compress this nerve, causing radiating pain. Manual therapy relieves this pressure.
3. When should I seek treatment?
If you experience swelling or restricted movement after a fall, it’s important to seek an evaluation to rule out serious damage. Additionally, if pain persists for weeks or months despite rest, professional treatment is critical to prevent further joint damage and ensure proper healing. Early intervention helps prevent long-term complications and supports a quicker recovery.
4. How can I stop recurring hip and knee pain?
Our specialists correct movement issues, reduce inflammation, and build joint stability with a targeted, long-term plan designed specifically for you.
